Unlike other manufacturers, Coleman rigid coolers are insulated with polyurethane (PU) insulation. PU is a very dense and excellent insulator that fills the entire internal cavity of the cooler, leaving no air voids and thus improving its insulation efficiency. Extensive testing at Coleman has shown that the cooling loss of rigid coolers is 30% across the top and also 30% across the base. The latest Coleman models feature greater insulation in these particular areas, along with reduced insulation on the sides.
